Rīga 12.09.2025

An event agency approached me with a request to organise a quest in the most famous and beautiful building in Riga — the House of the Blackheads. The game was to be part of the entertainment programme at a festive evening organised for the IT company Tietoevry/CBS.

The game had to be designed for the simultaneous participation of 200 guests, divided into large teams of 10-12 people.

I created a completely new indoor scavenger hunt based on the popular film series “Night at the Museum”, in which a night guard at a museum encounters an ancient spell that brings the exhibits to life.

Night at the Museum

You are gathered for a gala dinner in one of the most beautiful historical locations in Riga. Elegant suits, an exciting atmosphere and gourmet appetisers… The highlight of the evening is supposed to be the opening of a time capsule that was sealed ten years ago by Tietoevry employees at one of the events.

But the capsule with the message has disappeared, and the House of the Blackheads has changed beyond recognition: portraits and sculptures have come to life, and the historic walls are filled with the voices of exhibits and ghosts of famous townspeople.

They also want to take part in your celebration. To attract attention and dispel centuries of boredom, the ghosts stole and hid the capsule. But they promised to return it if you pass all the tests and simply have a good time with them.

Quest in the House of the Blackheads

As a result, I organised and ran the game, taking into account the client’s wishes and the strict and tight schedule of the event. I used the museum’s rich and varied collection in the riddles. The quest tasks were related to the artifacts. Fantasy and real facts were mixed to create a more complete immersion in the story. The design, game props, and my costume all matched the interior of the Blackheads House. I also prepared a speech for the master of ceremonies at the beginning and end of the game to make the whole event look more cohesive, with each part flowing smoothly into the next, creating a more complete and vivid experience for the guests.
